Oracle has announced that its Sun ZFS Storage 7320 appliance has extended its storage leadership by delivering outstanding performance on the SPECsfs2008_nfs benchmark. The Sun ZFS Storage 7320 appliance achieved 134,140 SPEC SFS2008_nfs ops/sec at an Overall Response Time of 1.51 milliseconds for file serving in a mixed workload environment.
"Oracle's Sun ZFS Storage Appliances are ideal for high performance NAS environments, with the scalability and efficiency to easily handle customers' rapidly increasing data growth," says Phil Bullinger, senior vice president, Storage, Oracle. "This SPECsfs2008 result is further proof that the Sun ZFS Storage Appliance delivers a significant increase in performance at a fraction of the cost of competitive solutions."
Oracle's Sun ZFS Storage Appliances are the only NAS products engineered together with Oracle Applications, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure software and Oracle Database 11g, as well as the Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle's SPARC SuperCluster T4-4. Additionally, says Oracle, with Hybrid Columnar Compression support for Oracle's Sun ZFS Storage Appliances, customers using Oracle's NAS systems to manage the lifecycle of data using in-database archiving for OLTP databases and data warehouses are able to increase storage efficiency by 10x to 50x for most data sets, and reduce capital and operating expenses.
