Oracle has unveiled Oracle Sourcing On Demand, a software-as-a-service solution intended to drive more efficient and effective strategic sourcing. Based on Oracle Sourcing and Oracle Sourcing Optimization, part of the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, Oracle Sourcing On Demand is pre-configured and hosted by Oracle experts, enabling reduced time-to-value and accelerated ROI.
Leveraging Oracle On Demand, this latest offering is intended to help eliminate IT inhibitors such as protracted upgrade cycles and privacy and security restrictions, and allows organizations to reduce the capital expense of purchasing hardware.
According to Nagaraj Srinivasan, vice president for supply chain products, Oracle, the solution is targeted at strategic buyers in the procurement department and toward the chief procurement officer, who in these current economic times "is really looking for opportunities to cut operational costs," as well as toward people looking to diversify their supply sources to mitigate the supply risks. The target industry for the solution includes any organization that is spending a significant amount of money on a particular commodity or a category, says Srinivasan. "That would be high tech, retail, distribution companies, manufacturing companies, professional services and the like."
Oracle Sourcing On Demand is intended to allow organizations to increase negotiation efficiency and effectiveness by making it easier to complete sourcing events, ensure agreements are implemented as soon as they are signed and generate more effective contracts. The offering also enables cross-functional collaboration among experts from finance, purchasing and lines of business in order to easily optimize cost, quality, risk and innovation.
Oracle Sourcing On Demand includes packaged integration with procurement applications, such as Oracle Purchasing, to help ensure that the right information is available within the relevant system.Organizations only need a browser in order to utilize Oracle Sourcing On Demand. Oracle hosts and manages all of the additional functionality, hardware, databases, servers, firewall settings and pre-configured applications.In addition to standard technical support, the solution also provides a dedicated helpdesk with access to functional experts.
Oracle On Demand meets the highest security standards and regulations and has been validated to meet SAS70 Type II requirements.
