Oracle today announced the availability of Oracle User Productivity Kit 11.0 and Oracle User Productivity Kit Professional 11.0, easy-to-use and comprehensive content development, deployment and maintenance platforms for increasing productivity and adoption for Oracle, third-party and custom applications projects.
New features in Oracle UPK Professional 11.0 enable customers to rapidly create and access engaging content, thereby increasing knowledge transfer and reducing content maintenance time.
"The biggest feature set that is going out in UPK 11 is around the ability to add conceptual-type questions to the product as well as more easily link in conceptual information," Trish Trolley, according to senior director, Oracle User Productivity Kit Product Management, tells 5 Minute Briefing.
For example, with this release, Trolley says, UPK goes beyond the specifics of how to document and enter an expense report such as codes, procedures and policies, to now cover the business implications of not entering an expense report. It is more of "the why's versus just the how's," she notes. "We have put a lot of work into expanding that footprint."
New functionality in the latest version of Oracle UPK Professional includes:
- Enablement Content - Jumpstart projects and map success from the start with best practices documentation and instructions.
- Web-based Knowledge Center - Improve efficiency, measure organizational readiness and support ongoing proficiency on a centralized content deployment, tracking and reporting platform.
- Conceptual-based Assessments and Links - Increase user adoption and knowledge retention through conceptual and transaction-based testing, and engage users with expanded access to additional, relevant information.
- Deployment Enhancements - Streamline publishing with a redesigned publishing wizard that includes publishing to the new Knowledge Center, as well as new HTML publishing options and test case publishing formats for Oracle Application Testing Suite and IBM Rational.
Oracle UPK and UPK Professional customers who are current on maintenance can upgrade to the latest version at no charge.
In addition, Oracle UPK and Oracle UPK pre-built content, available for many Oracle Applications, helps reduce content development time as companies can easily customize a prebuilt library of transactional recordings to meet their unique business needs.
UPK can be used to support the onboarding of new employees, to support employees changing job roles, as well as ease the process of upgrading to a new system or a new version of system, whether that is for an Oracle application or a non-Oracle application, says Trolley. There have also been organizations that have used it to create content beyond applications because it allows them to more easily conduct their training, and also assess how well instructions are being understood, Trolley explains.
