Oracle has agreed to acquire Datanomic Limited, a provider of customer data quality software and related applications for risk and compliance screening. According to Oracle, the Datanomic technology combined with Oracle Product Data Quality will provide a complete data quality solution to reduce the cost and complexity of managing data across its customers' businesses. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of calendar year 2011, and Datanomic's management and employees are expected to join Oracle.
In explaining the company's interest in Datanomic, Oracle states that Datanomic's data quality software manages data for some of the largest corporations in the world in a variety of sectors, including financial services, retail, insurance, telecommunications, and utilities. The company is expected to be a key component of Oracle's data integration solution and provides capabilities to profile, audit, cleanse, and match customer and contact data from disparate sources and systems. According to Oracle, with Oracle Data Quality, recently acquired from Silver Creek Systems, Oracle Data Integration and Datanomic technology, it expects to offer a total solution incorporating capabilities for data profiling, quality and integration that can provide a single view of customer, product, and other data across the enterprise.
