OpenText and Secure Code Warrior’s Partnership Drives Developer Upskilling and True DevSecOps

OpenText, a leading information management software and services company, is announcing a strategic partnership with Secure Code Warrior, a secure coding platform that sets the standards that keep our digital world safe. Aiming to power DecSecOps practices for a variety of organizations, this collaboration cultivates an environment of continuous upskilling, reduced risk, and elevated customer trust.

This partnership was prompted by the growing cyberattacks targeted at unpatched software vulnerabilities. According to OpenText Cybersecurity’s 2024 Global Ransomware Survey, 62% of organizations who experienced a cyberattack in 2024 found that the attack’s origins traced back to a software supply chain partner.

Enter DevSecOps—a strategy of integrating security testing at every stage of the software development process. Promoting a Secure-by-Design approach that ensures software can withstand the cyber threat landscape, DevSecOps is a key component of modern application security.

OpenText and Secure Code Warrior are forwarding DevSecOps practices by offering the ability to embed real-time security and risk management training within the coding process itself. Integrating Secure Code Warrior’s dynamic learning platform into the OpenText Fortify application security suite, development teams are afforded the necessary agility to respond and prevent risks without compromising overall security, according to the companies.

“Every organization is affected by insecure code—whether they’re a software company or simply using third-party software,” said Muhi Majzoub, executive vice president and chief product officer, OpenText. “Today, securing code is a fundamental requirement, not just a best practice. It’s essential for protecting the organization, its customers, and its partners. Our work with Secure Code Warrior addresses the human risk factors in software development, enabling organizations to embed secure coding practices and giving developers the confidence to innovate securely.”

With targeted developer training, OpenText Fortify’s SAST findings are transformed into customized secure code training. This effectively upskills developers in real time, further enhanced with Secure Code Warrior’s simplified code analysis that increases vulnerability comprehension. The result is faster remediation, enhanced developer skills, and reduced risk through continuous learning and immediate feedback—where integrated code training can reduce vulnerabilities by up to 50%, according to the vendors.

To help quantify their security programs, OpenText customers can benchmark their initiatives with Secure Code Warrior’s capabilities to ensure alignment with business goals.

“In our new era of ‘AI-written code,’ it is important that software engineers develop critical thinking skills to spot insecure and secure coding patterns, understand Secure-by-Design principles and new AI security issues. Secure Code Warrior makes it possible for OpenText customers to remediate vulnerabilities faster and address these issues at the root cause. Our customers see a 53% vulnerability reduction and 2x faster remediation with their developers,” said Pieter Danhieux, CEO and co-founder, Secure Code Warrior. “Our partnership with OpenText now provides a seamless application security and risk management experience to solve this challenge.”
