OpenText, a provider of enterprise information management (EIM) software, announced the expansion of the OpenText ECM Suite for SAP Solutions in support of SAP's latest technologies, including the SAP HANA platform, and cloud and mobility solutions. This support builds on a partnership that spans more than two decades and is growing every year, Patrick Barnert, senior vice president, Partners and Alliances, OpenText, tells 5 Minute Briefing. OpenText, he adds, is the first SAP ISV partner to have its products fully tested and confirmed by SAP to be integrated with SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA.
The OpenText ECM Suite for SAP Solutions will extend the value of SAP Business Suite software as an end-to-end solution. Leveraging the power of SAP HANA, the OpenText ECM Suite for SAP Solutions is designed to enable SAP customers to use common enterprise architecture to organize and control all of their digital information.
Many organizations have third party products but can’t easily move their ERP installations on HANA because their third-party products don’t support it. “Either you have to get rid of it or wait until the third party has certified their product on HANA – and that is what we have been doing because we have such a tight partnership with SAP,” says Barnert.
Using these solutions together with SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA, will help customers gain the benefits of a real-time platform for their business. Additionally, OpenText solutions resold by SAP as the SAP Digital Asset Management and the SAP Document Presentment applications by OpenText are available with the SAP 360 Customer solution.
With OpenText ECM suite’s support of SAP HANA as well as SAP cloud and mobility solutions, the company is reinforcing its commitment to the over 20-year relationship with SAP, but also its commitment to providing customers with comprehensive EIM solutions, says Barnert. “It is a big investment we are making around SAP’s new strategic businesses – cloud, mobile and in-memory database. We are all in.”
OpenText's portfolio of products for SAP solutions include a new collaborative Invoice-to-Pay solution to facilitate offering customers a hybrid on-premises and cloud-based solution that can leverage SAP’s Ariba Network, connecting buyers and suppliers and helping them optimize invoice management activities such as dynamic discounting.
In addition, OpenText's capture and optical character recognition (OCR) services are now included in the SAP Cloud for Travel solution (formerly known as SAP Travel OnDemand), a cloud-based application for travel management. The offering is aimed at making it easier for business travelers to file expense reports using information scanned from receipts using scanners or mobile devices. “This offers huge benefits,” says Barnert. “It is much more simplified approach than the processes today that other vendors are providing, where you have to extract the data manually."
OpenText's Employee File Management 4.0 also integrates with solutions from SuccessFactors, an SAP company, via a cloud connector interface feature. The connector can import forms from various cloud-based processes, allowing users to store cloud-based documents within a central content repository.
And finally, new mobile applications, such as OpenText Vendor Invoice Management for SAP Solutions, OpenText Employee File Management for SAP Solutions, and the SAP Portal Content Management application by OpenText are forecasted to support and integrate with the SAP Afaria mobile device management solution, allowing users to sync, share and store enterprise information across mobile devices while keeping content secure and in compliance with corporate policies.
