New Versions Connectivity Products for IBM DB2 LUW and z/OS from HiT Software

HiT Software, Inc., a BackOffice Associates, LLC company and provider of data management products, has released HiT ODBC/DB2 v6.2 and HiT OLE DB/DB2 v4.2, the newest versions of its high-performance connectivity products specifically for application access to IBM DB2 for z/OS and IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX, Windows (LUW) databases.

These products offer new features including full support for IBM DB2 UDB 9.x and z/OS 9.x, including backward compatible support for previous versions. The new software also includes both 32-bit and 64-bit platform support. Also supported are Microsoft Windows 7 Visual Studio 2010, Office 2010 and Windows Server 2008, with backward compatible support. The new versions also include a new C# Toolkit in HiT ODBC/DB2 Developer Edition for powerful SQL management.

The new releases help address the challenge of big data now faced by many organizations, particularly IBM DB2 platforms, Giacomo Lorenzin, managing director of HiT Software, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "They need connectivity solutions that are not throttled by throughput, and that provide both current and backward compatible support for IBM databases. Many of our customers using IBM DB2 databases on Windows, UNIX and mainframe systems depend on our connectivity products to give them the performance and flexibility they need to access data from IBM to quickly feed critical business applications."

ODBC and OLE DB connectivity products provide enhanced performance and faster diagnostics. Adding HiT's optional SSL Server to HiT's connectivity products provides 256-bit data encryption and authentication. "The additional benefit of providing optional 256-bit encryption gives risk-averse industries such as healthcare, finance and government a much higher level of assurance of data safety than similar connectivity products with lesser encryption offerings," Lorenzin adds.
