New Version of Trillium Software Improves Collaboration between Business Users and IT

Trillium Software, a business of Harte-Hanks, Inc., has introduced the latest version of the Trillium Software System. Designed to visualize data issues, improve business rule validation and enhance data quality monitoring in operational environments, the new Trillium Software System is aimed at helping business users and analysts, data stewards and IT professionals work together to improve business decisions and outcomes through better, more accurate information.

The primary goal for Trillium Software System version 13 was to make it easier for business users - such as business application managers and business intelligence analysts - and IT developers to collaborate on business rule development for data quality, Len Dubois, senior vice president of marketing at Trillium Software, tells 5 Minute Briefing. In the past, he notes, business rule development has primarily been done by programmers and developers on the IT side based on some input from the business side. "It has been an iterative process that often had a lot of failure in it, and that led to a great deal of frustration on the side of business analysts." The new Trillium software features a new graphical user interface that allows the business analysts to drive the business rule development themselves. The interface is characterized by new role-based navigation bars that help users analyze data and create data processes. In essence, it is a user interface that allows almost anybody in the business process to create rules that improve information quality, explains Dubois.

In addition, enhanced reporting, charts, and graphics make it easier for business and data stewards to understand and quantify the impact of their data conditions for their business. Data stewards can better prioritize activities and actions that improve their data, helping streamline resources and reduce costs. Ten new interactive summary reports display profiling results, enabling users to drill down into detail results from charts and graphs to better analyze solutions to data challenges.

Real-time deployment enhancements also provide more flexible deployment of data quality services. Specifically through ActiveEnterprise Resources, users now have new capabilities to rapidly perform user acceptance testing for ensuring data quality process results are satisfactory to the business. With this enhancement, business analysts can verify that the output from data quality processes comply with business requirements before moving into production.
