Predictive analytics vendor Alpine Data Labs has released Alpine 2.8, the latest version of the company’s flagship product that leverages Hadoop and enables enterprises to derive business value from their big data. Alpine 2.8 users can executive analytics on combined data from Hadoop and relational databases from their web browser without any additional investments in hardware or infrastructure.
Alpine 2.8 simplifies basic data processing, making data exploration more iterative, and can be used right from a web browser. “We have data exploration capabilities so you can explore all the data that’s sitting on your Hadoop file system. You can apply data transformation, exploration, and charting functions against these data sets,” Steven Hillion, Alpine’s chief product officer, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Users are able to generate insights through statistical analyses and building scalable models on large datasets without writing any code.
Alpine can be used by all types of professionals from data engineers to business analysts, allowing users to share analyses and increase collaboration. “We’ve made everything very ‘drag-drop,’ and that’s really the focus of 2.8,” Hillion explains. Alpine 2.8 supports databases Greenplum, Oracle 11g, Oracle Exadata, Netezza, DB2, and PostgreSQL, and features simplified workflow editing, full data browsing and visualization capabilities, and an accessible framework.
