Pentaho Corporation, a business analytics provider, has announced new capabilities in its data integration and business analytics platform, including Instaview, an instant big data discovery application, and Pentaho Mobile for iPad. According to the company, the new capabilities will enable IT developers, data analysts and business users to move from data to decisions more quickly, and are included in the 4.8 release of Pentaho Business Analytics Enterprise Edition.
Instaview is a new application that reduces the time and complexity of discovery, visualization and exploration of data residing in NoSQL databases. “Instaview is all about providing self-service big data analytics. You can deploy this to data analysts and business users and they don’t need to be dependent on IT,” Ian Fyfe, technology evangelist at Pentaho, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Instaview expands big data access to data analysts, eliminates the need for separate big data visualization tools, and simplifies big data delivery and access management for IT. “What’s unique about it is that it’s not Hadoop-only. This can work with any data store supported by Pentaho Data Integration,” Fyfe adds.
Pentaho Business Analytics 4.8 Enterprise Edition features Pentaho Mobile, allowing users to create new ad hoc analysis from Apple’s iPad. “We’ve built a personalization interface, including My Reports, My Dashboards, Favorites, and recently viewed content,” Fyfe explains.
A feature unique to Pentaho Mobile is the ability to author new content, allowing users to, for example, build a brand-new analysis view from scratch. With instant and interactive analysis, visualization dashboards and reports, and on-the-go analysis, Pentaho Mobile offers decision makers to enhanced interaction with their data wherever they are.
