Aras, a provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software, has released the results of testing conducted by Logic 20/20 regarding the scalability of Aras Innovator 10 running Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition on HP ProLiant servers with the HP ioDrive2 Duo IO accelerator technology from Fusion-io. According to the company, the results confirm optimal performance and resource utilization for 500,000 named users with 125,000 concurrent users.
PLM is a process or system used to manage the data and design process associated with the life of a product from its conception through its manufacture, retirement and disposal. PLM manages data, people, business processes, and manufacturing processes regarding a product, acting as a central information hub for information associated with a given product making it possible for a well-managed PLM system to streamline product development and facilitate easier communication among those working on or with a product.
Aras Innovator 10 is the latest release of Aras’s product lifecycle management solution suite. According to the vendor, it provides greater PLM platform scalability for enterprises with global supply chains, and introduces an HTML5 browser interface, making PLM more accessible for business users. Aras Innovator 10 is used by businesses that need to re-platform their PLM environment to support requirements for large extended enterprise user counts and rapidly growing data sets. The technology enhancements also enable mobile application development and simplify cloud deployment.
“SQL Server 2012 is designed to provide the performance and scalability required by the most demanding mission-critical applications whether they are running in the data center or the Cloud,” said Simon Floyd, director of Product Lifecycle Management Solutions at Microsoft. “Together Aras, Microsoft, HP and Fusion-io deliver predictable scalability, high user concurrency and performance required by the world’s largest manufacturers to compete and innovate in a fast changing global market place.”
