Netezza Corporation, a global leader in data warehouse and analytic appliances, has announced that it has completed the acquisition of privately held Tizor Systems, a Massachusetts-based provider of advanced enterprise data auditing and protection solutions for the data center. This acquisition will allow Netezza's enterprise customers to track, store and perform forensic analysis against years of data access history and more easily meet regulatory compliance requirements.
As regulatory compliance and information governance rules get even stricter, it's vital that companies know who is accessing information and how. Hence, the enterprise data auditing and protection market is expected to grow significantly in the next couple of years and by acquiring Tizor, Netezza will be able to offer its customers ‘best-in-class' data auditing products that align with its enterprise offering. Phil Francisco, vice president of product management and marketing at Netezza, tells 5 Minute Briefing that "Netezza and Tizor have a common appliance approach that offers high performance and simple deployment. By using the Tizor appliance, Netezza customers will be able to eliminate much of the manual labor involved in data auditing, and will be able to audit multi-year data histories."
Tizor provides enterprise data auditing and protection solutions through its Mantra product, a passive, non-inline network appliance. The Mantra appliance is capable of monitoring, reporting and alerting on all critical data activity across the enterprise data center-databases, file servers and mainframe applications. Its intelligent adapters decode network and local SQL and file server traffic based on policies that administrators write to automate their organization's data auditing practices.
Tizor Systems will operate as a subsidiary of Netezza and will continue to serve global enterprise customers such as financial institutions, insurance companies, retailers, manufacturers, healthcare providers and airlines, among others. These companies rely on Tizor's Mantra solutions to protect critical data assets, detect data breaches and provide data-related compliance, including SOX and PCI.
