Massive Update for ScienceLogic Spans Integrations, Security, Enterprise Enablement, and More

ScienceLogic, a leader in automated IT operations, is debuting several updates to ScienceLogic SL1, the vendor’s AIOps platform that offers expansive monitoring and contextualization across multi-cloud and distributed architectures. This series of updates—spanning areas such as reliability, security, enterprise enablement, third-party integration, user experience, and more—reflects ScienceLogic’s comprehensive approach to accommodating its users’ data center needs.

The first of the updates features a new integration with Cisco Intersight, bringing Cisco’s data center management tool to the ScienceLogic platform. This integration delivers seamless monitoring of several Cisco server types, granting greater visibility for a large portion of the data center server market, according to ScienceLogic.

ScienceLogic is also enhancing its security with the incorporation of OAuth2.0, the industry-standard for authorization. Now, users are afforded secure access to externally hosted information, paired with package updates designed to improve performance and reliability with back-end terminals multiplexers (tmux).

The update introduces the latest version of ScienceLogic’s Dynamic Application Builder (DAB), delivering greater enterprise enablement as well as UI enhancements and bug fixes that improve the user experience. DAB 1.1 empowers users to easily produce Dynamic Applications with the low-code Snippet Framework outside of the ScienceLogic platform, enabling the application to perform as a standalone desktop application which can be installed and operated independently on local machines, according to the vendor. The application built only requires Docker Desktop to run, inviting rapid installation and operation in as little as minutes.

ScienceLogic’s SL1 platform also sees significant performance improvements in its upgrade from OL7 to OL8. The update has enabled the platform to achieve the following:

  • 31% increase in CPU performance
  • 34% reduction in CPU usage during data pulls
  • 19% decrease in CPU usage for WMI processes
  • 14% faster SQL query responses
  • Execution times for large SQL queries reduced to less than 60 seconds
  • Time to open 7,000 business services dropped from over 70 seconds to under 10 seconds

Finally, ScienceLogic’s massive update ushers in an improved user experience, designed to specifically offer greater agility, organization, and a streamlined interface. Included in the improvements are:

  • New custom dashboard widget type for HTML content, enabling the creation of personalized and informative dashboards
  • Custom device investigator layouts and alignments for improved clarity and focus on critical information
  • New masked events modal that streamlines the user experience with an organized, accessible way to manage and view events
  • Updates to default service policies and interface dashboard widgets to align with best practices and user feedback

“The latest updates to the ScienceLogic platform demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with exceptional user experiences by continually enhancing the utility, reliability, and security of the platform,” said Michael Nappi, chief product officer at ScienceLogic. “As technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented rate and the data center market expands rapidly, we’re pleased to offer the tools necessary to support the needs of a growing base of users.”
