Maponics, a provider of location-based data for businesses, has introduced the latest version of its Neighborhood Boundaries product, which now includes over 120,000 neighborhoods in the U.S. and Canada. With the new version, coverage of locally sourced neighborhoods has increased by more than 10,000 polygons with coverage expansion in more than 70 new cities. In addition, Washington, DC, and Miami, Florida, have gained expanded coverage, with more than 1,000 neighborhoods added in each of those metro areas. U.S. Census files are included in Maponics Neighborhoods boundaries product releases, and with this latest release, Canadian Census files are included as well.
Maponics' products are used by local search, real estate, mobile, social media and marketing firms. Observing that Google is one of Maponics' customers, Steve DuScheid, director of marketing at Maponics, tells 5 Minute Briefing, "Our database of neighborhood names and boundaries is used by the search engines to enhance the accuracy and geographic context of search results."
