With a multitude of SaaS and mobile applications designed to enhance the capabilities of Rocket UniData/UniVerse (U2) back-office applications, the quest toward modernizing areas of an organization seems relatively accessible. However, integrating these products with U2 applications while simultaneously ensuring that security, performance, data access, and rule enforcement are optimized presents a significant challenge.
Keith Lambert, VP of marketing and business development at Kore Technologies, and Mark Dobransky, managing partner and co-founder of Kore Technologies, joined DBTA’s webinar, Modernize Your MultiValue Applications with Real-Time Integration, to explore the ways in which U2 applications can be successfully integrated with other technologies, as well as how RESTful Web Services and APIs can be leveraged and created to propel positive implementation.
Lambert began by introducing the Kourier Integrator Suite, the company’s flagship solution that enables enterprises to extend the value and functionality of their applications through successful and comprehensive integrations. Within this offering is Kourier REST, a modernization tool that makes real-time integration happen.
Modernizing can take shape as the following actions:
- Extending U2 System with new or improved capabilities
- Replacing old functionality with third-party integrations
- Adding new functionality with SaaS or a cloud application
- Adding a web-based portal or web user interface (UI)
- Integrating niche or edge mobile applications
Lambert then led webinar viewers through the types of REST integrations, which include inbound integration (REST as Server) and outbound integration (REST as Client).
The advantages of using Kourier REST are certainly numerous, according to Lambert. For the developer, this implementation increases productivity, focuses on configuration as opposed to coding, does not require web developer knowledge or code changes, easily incorporates U2 business logic, and more.
For the API consumer, the benefits of using Kourier REST include reduced time and cost of integration, developer-friendly APIs, easy subscription implementation, support for REST Resource best practices, well documented APIs via Swagger, as well as the ability to turn Swagger docs into API code.
Kourier REST as Server enables secure access to UniData/UniVerse application data via published REST APIs, accompanied by bi-directional integration with secure and rated read/write access to U2 data. Ultimately, REST as Server enables users to create and publish REST APIs for U2 applications, leveraging both application logic and business rules.
On the other side of REST integrations, Kourier REST as Client integrates and shares data with external applications using published APIs. Essentially, Kourier REST as Client rests as an API endpoint between external applications (such as Salesforce, ServiceTitan, or SAP Concur) and the Kourier REST Engine, which connects to U2 applications. This enables hybrid integration environments, underpinned by data syncs every 15 minutes and 20,000 updates per day.
Dobransky then led webinar viewers through a detailed demonstration of a Salesforce CRM RESTful integration, highlighting its various benefits.
Ultimately, the speakers emphasized the following reasons to choose Kore and Kourier REST:
- Powerful and productive REST integration environment
- A flexible and deep solution that grows with your needs
- Advanced API features with subscriptions and REST Gateway
- Simplifies integration with SaaS and Cloud Apps REST APIs
- A customizable low maintenance solution that provides high ROI
- A dedicated, caring, and responsive support staff
- Competitive products and pricing
