Businesses must become more competitive than ever in the big data arena. Executives must know where to focus their efforts to capitalize on the growing opportunities of the analytics economy.
Anne Buff, advisory business solutions manager at SAS, will discuss how executives can generate substantial business value, internal and external, from the growing analytics economy in her Data Summit 2018 session titled, “Five Executive Imperatives to Compete in the Analytics Economy.”
Data Summit 2018 will take place at the Hyatt Regency Boston, May 22-23, with pre-conference workshops on Monday, May 21. Cognitive Computing Summit also be co-located at the event.
The analytics economy is a subset of the digital economy and many companies are excited about the concept of what analytics can do, Buff explained.
“Since it’s a hot topic what I’m looking at are what do you have to have to be successful in analytics in the concept of business in general,” Buff said.
Analytics is a huge trend right now, according to Buff. What companies can do with it is great but skipping some of these major imperatives set companies up for failure.
One of the imperatives, monetization, is one to watch out for, according to Buff.
“I think it’s going to be interesting to see what new business model companies create that are going to introduce them to new streams of revenue once they gain a new understanding of their data,” Buff said.
Buff is looking forward to see how companies are moving forward at this point. Businesses are realizing data doesn’t have to be so perfect.
“I’m looking for creative uses of data stretching the boundaries of what companies have been doing in the past from a technology perspective and moving forward with that,” Buff said.
She predicts attendees will be looking at different tools they can use to move them forward faster.
“I think there’s going to be a lot of questions around rapidly advancing technology,” Buff said.
Buff will give her talk on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 10:45 am at Data Summit.
