At Strata + Hadoop World 2016, Kognitio announced a competition to find the best use case or application that has its newest offering, Kognitio on Hadoop, as part of the solution. According to Roger Gaskell, CTO of Kognitio, the company is looking for solutions that are innovative in terms of application or something more common place but is now being done at scale.
Kognitio on Hadoop is the latest version of the Kognitio Analytical Platform, an in-memory data analysis engine. The solution is free to download, with updates and patching included. The goal of the competition is to increase adoption, said Gaskell, noting that the Hadoop market has brought the 20-year-old UK-based company to a completely different set of competitors and users. As a result, the company is offering its software for free, with updates and patches included, and additional support contracts available, if desired. “Once people have the product they come back for more,” said Gaskell.
The author of the winning solution will be offered a choice of $5,000; a 1-year internship at Kognitio’s development center; or a free 1-year support contract. For competition details, go here.
