Informative Graphics Corporation, a provider of viewing, collaboration and redaction technology, announced the release of Redact-It for IBM eDiscovery Manager. IBM's eDiscovery software provides a strategic, in-house approach to more efficiently address discovery, privacy and retention requirements. Integrated with IBM eDiscovery Manager, Redact-It performs automated redaction on documents during the export phase, enabling organizations to process large volumes of documents in-house.
Redact-It is useful for law firms and corporate legal departments, but also is seeing adoption in other industries as well, Christine Musil, director of marketing for Informative Graphics, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "As far as the target audience, IBM is targeting in-house legal departments and IT, and as an add on to that, our IBM integration follows," she points out. "Redact-It as a standalone product targets law firms of all size and corporate legal. We also have many users in HR, government, credit card services, accounting firms and more."
Redact-It automatically applies privilege or privacy scripts and creates a new PDF or TIFF rendition of redacted files, leaving the source files untouched. The redacted rendition contains no hidden text or metadata; content is completely removed, reducing risk of inadvertent disclosure through improper redaction. Redact-It also offers the ability to export source files to PDF or TIFF from eDiscovery Manager in addition to IBM's traditional EDRM-XML and Native format options.
The tool also works with leading content management systems, Musil adds. "Redact-It Enterprise is integrated with EMC Documentum and Open Text ECM," she says.
