Information Builders, a leader in operational business intelligence solutions, and PBS&J, a multidisciplinary engineering firm with expertise in the design and implementation of information solutions, have announced an agreement to offer Information Builders' WebFOCUS BI platform as part of PBS&J's implementation and consulting services. PBS&J's Applied Technologies Group uses customized reporting and dashboard tools for many of its clients' solutions. With WebFOCUS, a proven and robust reporting solution, PBS&J will be able to speed up project timeframes, reduce certain implementation risks, and increase ease of maintenance.
PBS&J provides infrastructure planning, engineering, construction management, architecture, and program management services to public and private clients. As an Information Builders Implementation Partner, PBS&J will leverage WebFOCUS capabilities and deliver enhanced BI and integration projects and solutions. Through common partnerships with ESRI, a geographic information systems (GIS) provider, Information Builders and PBS&J can offer broad location intelligence capabilities-from reporting and analysis to web-based applications and asset management systems.
The location intelligence capabilities from Information Builders and ESRI "will expedite project workflows in construction, building, and transportation projects, provide key performance indicators from project schedules, and visually enable better decision support," Donna Huey, vice president at PBS&J's Applied Technologies Group, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "One example of this would be to use the location intelligence capabilities to understand why all projects in a certain geographic area are falling behind schedule."
A key area of strength for Information Builders is the integration expertise it brings to the BI market. Adam Cohen, channels marketing manager for Information Builders, explains that "with the ESRI adapter for WebFOCUS, we can spatially-enable any data point and integrate ESRI with other databases." Also, through its iWay subsidiary, Information Builders provides software that solves complex integration problems with pre-built components that require minimal custom programming.
Through the partnership with Information Builders, PBS&J can now offer its customers expanded business intelligence and integration solutions for both the public and private sectors, including counties and municipalities, departments of transportation, contractors, and other regional, state, and federal agencies.
