Informatica, a provider of data management solutions, has acquired Diaku, Ltd., a London-based provider of data governance solutions.
Informatica has also introduced Informatica Axon, an integrated enterprise data governance solution designed to engage all constituencies, technical and business in order to govern an organization’s data.
According to Informatica, overall constituency for data governance is highly stratified, ranging from data owners and stewards in the trenches to chief data officers and executive sponsors at the C-level, and there is currently a gap between governance tools that serve technical staff and the tools that serve non-technical business constituents.
Informatica Axon aims to close the data governance functionality gap by providing complete solution for all constituencies in a single unified offering on top of the Intelligent Data Platform to address the full spectrum of data governance requirements for business and technical constituents, from individual data owners up to an organization’s chief data officer, and help organizations achieve a holistic view of data governance programs and progress by collating domain knowledge now typically scattered across disconnected constituencies.
Diaku’s flagship application, Diaku Axon, now called Informatica Axon, integrates with Informatica data management solutions for data quality, master data management, big data and cloud to form a unified data governance offering.
Informatica Axon is expected to be particularly game-changing for financial services, healthcare and other industries with intensive governance requirements, said Amit Walia, executive vice president and chief products officer, Informatica. By integrating offerings such as Informatica Data Quality, Informatica MDM and Informatica Enterprise Information Catalog with Diaku Axon, he noted, Informatica is addressing customers’ enterprise data governance needs with a solution that offers a depth and breadth of functionality and embedded data governance expertise.
