HPE Marries Multi-Layered and Zero-Trust Strategies for Seamless, Effective Cybersecurity

Against a background of a rapidly evolving threat and regulatory landscape, Hewlett Packard Enterprise is making strides by announcing expansions to HPE Aruba Networking and HPE GreenLake cloud that help enterprises address cybersecurity risk and data protection simply and effectively.

The two expansions debuted by HPE centers a comprehensive strategy that builds security across several layers of the enterprise infrastructure while driving a zero-trust approach to users and devices. By blending multi-layered and zero trust approaches to combating threats, HPE’s latest capabilities reflect how “we [HPE] are committed to delivering a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity and data protection, providing…[customers] with the advanced protections they need to mitigate risks and defend against sophisticated cyberattacks; meet emerging regulations; and remain resilient while building an edge against their competitors,” according to Rajeev Bhardwaj, VP, chief product officer, private cloud and Flex solutions.

This announcement features a variety of enhancements to HPE Aruba Networking Central’s access controls, delivering new precision cloud-based access control security capabilities that persist a zero-trust security architecture. By automatically treating all users, devices, and applications as threats until proven otherwise, protection is radically enhanced.

“We continue to expand on the network’s role as a security solution. Because the network is critical to how data supports the organization—through its collection, transport, and accessibility—we are building even more controls for secure access and threat protection directly into the network itself, so organizations can activate those controls wherever data is or where it’s going,” said Eve-Marie Lanza, senior security marketing manager, HPE Aruba Networking. “We also continue to innovate to make it easier for organizations to secure their data and comply with regulations as they adopt hybrid cloud approaches.”

Other security features for HPE Aruba Networking Central include:

  • Enhanced Policy Manager for new HPE Aruba Networking Central NAC that improves precision access policies across the entire network
  • Tighter integration between HPE Aruba Networking Central and HPE OpsRamp that drives greater visibility and observability for hybrid environments with third-party devices, such as those from Cisco, Arista, and Juniper Networks
  • New SASE capabilities for tighter integration with HPE Aruba Networking SSE, and new Adaptive DDoS defense capabilities which utilize machine learning to adjust DDoS defense mechanisms in real time
  • High-availability, high-performance mesh connectivity which improves reliability and resiliency, as well as seamless and efficient real-time data access, while establishing zero downtime

Expansions to HPE GreenLake cloud afford organizations greater security and operational resilience while simplifying compliance and reducing overall risk. This includes the introduction of threat-adaptive security for HPE Private Cloud Enterprise, which temporarily disconnects from the public internet in the presence of detected network threats. Isolating critical data, operations, and infrastructure, this feature helps minimize the impact of cyberthreats, acting as a “digital circuit breaker.”

Additionally, HPE Private Cloud Enterprise now features air-gapped cloud management, enabling enterprises in more stringent regulatory industries to benefit from a cloud management experience on-prem without connecting to an external network.

“With our air-gapped cloud management and new threat-adaptive security offerings, we are giving customers the freedom to choose the right solution for them, whether they are operating in air-gapped, regulated or sovereign environments, or only need temporary air gaps to secure their operations,” noted Bhardwaj. “These solutions ultimately build business resiliency for every enterprise customer and protect them against threats while addressing today’s data security and sovereignty challenges.”

Other new features for HPE GreenLake cloud include:

  • New HPE Cybersecurity Services for sovereign cloud which offer the expertise of cybersecurity experts to ensure regulatory alignment and operational control
  • New AI-focused cybersecurity services from HPE drive confident AI adoption with robust governance, risk management, and compliance
  • Unified observability and real-time threat detection—through the general availability of the OpsRamp and CrowdStrike integration—that improves system performance and cyber resilience
