The Oracle Assessment is an IBM offering to Oracle clients that can help customers craft a business and technology decision with regard to their Oracle spending.
Overall Assessment of the in-place Oracle "environment" is a review of all Oracle products that are included in ULA and/or Support Agreements with Oracle. The review can help determine if any "dependencies" exist in the Oracle environment and their effects.
DBTA recently held a webinar with Tony Mancini, business unit executive, global enterprise accounts and Oracle health checks at IBM, who discussed a breakdown of the process used and the various deliverables IBM provides.
There are three primary areas in which an Oracle health check can be desirable, according to Mancini. The health check is useful when:
- Clients are looking for more leverage in current or future negotiations;
- Clients are looking to cut IT spend by 30% to 50%; and when
- Clients who want to replace Oracle completely.
IBM can act as advisors, using their experience to help customers craft business and technology decisions with regards to their Oracle spend. It’s not just about getting the most from the technology, Mancini explained, it’s also about getting the most from a client’s investment in it.
IBM’s advisors can help customers understand their choices when using Oracle Software, optimize license spend, understand how licensing works and help clients realize the true value of them, and optimize performance for the investment.
