Entrinsik Announces a Breakthrough in Multi-Database Reporting with Informer v4.0

Entrinsik, well known in the MultiValue arena for database reporting and analytics software and services for the UniVerse and UniData databases from IBM, plans to announce the feature-complete beta release of a major new version of the company's Informer Web Reporting solution next month. The new release will offer native access to multiple databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, Informix, and Microsoft Access, in addition to UniVerse and UniData, as well as easy navigation and dynamic linking for reporting across multiple data sources.

The company has already completed two rounds of alpha testing on the new solution, Brad Leupen, CTO of Entrinsik, tells 5 Minute Briefing. General availability for Informer v4.0 is planned for the second quarter. "The goal with this product has been to vastly expand our potential customer base from U2 only, to U2 and really any kind of SQL prospects," Leupen explains.

Informer extends real-time self-service reporting and analysis to front-line users in any organization. With only a few mouse clicks, organizations can quickly connect multiple sources of data to provide users with a single point of access to interactive reports via Informer's integrated Web 2.0 user interface. Additionally, version 4.0 employs native query commands and Web server caching to accelerate data retrieval and provide flexible, rapid data manipulation capabilities.

With this release, Informer not only opens up access to these different types of databases in isolation, but it will also let users connect them, emphasizes Leupen. "Let's say you had product information in a SQL database and the information about the orders and people who placed orders stored in a U2 database," notes Leupen. "With Informer, you could write a report that actually sucks in up-to-the-second data from both databases and then glues the results together to do reporting and analysis in real time at once."

Informer generates ad hoc reports in minutes based on live data from both MultiValue and SQL databases, which is securely accessible via the web. End users can initiate high-level queries then immediately delve into the underlying details, without burdening IT staff. Informer v4.0 also offers an intuitive Web 2.0 user interface with drag and drop, auto complete, calculated columns and inplace editing. It features integration with desktop functions including PDF, email, Excel, and Live Excel spreadsheets, and instantly transports data from the database without the need to log onto the system.

Entrinsik will showcase the beta release during a breakfast on Tuesday, March 24, at 8 a.m. at the International Spectrum 2009 conference at The Westin Westminster's Lakeview Pavilion. For more information about the breakfast session, go here.
