Embarcadero Technologies, a provider of software solutions for application and database development, has announced a major new XE6 release of its portfolio of database tools, including ER/Studio, a data design, modeling, and collaboration solution; DBArtisan, a cross platform database administration solution; and Rapid SQL, a SQL IDE giving database developers and DBAs the ability to create high-performing SQL code on all major databases from a single interface.
The tools support a range of database platforms with native support for Oracle, SAP ASE, SQL Server, and DB2 (LUW and z/OS) among others.
According to Embarcadero, the new tools enable customers to meet today’s demanding data challenges while delivering significant productivity gains across an enhanced set of database management system platforms.

The new release of ER/Studio provides big data support along with performance improvements to handle large, collaborative model management needs. New features include reverse-engineering support for Hadoop Hive and MongoDB big data platforms; extended 64-bit memory model improves system performance with large datasets; and enhanced collaboration on models and metadata across the organization in the Enterprise Team Edition.
And to help database administrators and developers who are being challenged with administration, tuning and development across complex, heterogeneous database environments, the new release of DBArtisan and Rapid SQL provides PostgreSQL support enabling work across a broader set of DBMS platforms using a single tool. New features include PostgreSQL support including Greenplum MPP & Pivotal HAWQ SQL-on-Hadoop, while SQL Server 2014 support delivers up-to-date administration and development capabilities
