Power management company Eaton announced the United States launch of PredictPulse Insight, a cloud-based analytics service for data center infrastructure intended to help predict the failure of power components.
The new service adds predictive analytics to Eaton’s next-generation PredictPulse remote monitoring service, shifting power monitoring from a reactive to a proactive model. Using innovative algorithms and predictive modeling, the new service continuously assesses the likelihood of component failures in uninterruptible power systems, helping IT professionals reduce the risk of downtime in their data center infrastructures.
PredictPulse Insight collects and analyzes data from the UPS and, using proprietary modeling and advanced algorithms, attempts to identify component failures ahead of time. This enables Eaton’s certified technicians to proactively remedy issues and replace essential UPS components rather than reacting should one of these components fail.
“As the industrial Internet-of-Things and Big Data continue to make their way into IT infrastructures, companies are only beginning to understand how they can strategically harness the power of data sciences – namely, diagnostics, predictive and prescriptive analytics – to positively impact their businesses,” said Ram Ramakrishnan, executive vice president and chief technology officer for Eaton.
With PredictPulse Insight, users receive real-time information using an online dashboard so operators can monitor what is happening with their power infrastructure and connect quickly to an Eaton monitoring specialist. Users can view real-time device details, alarms, key performance metrics, service history and contact information from their online dashboard to remain up to speed on the status of their power infrastructure and any trends that develop. Additionally, the service’s mobile app shows alarm status, saving valuable time during a critical event where users may be away from their dashboard.
