Data management vendor Delphix has released a new version of its database virtualization platform, Delphix 3.0. Featuring new support for Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Microsoft SQL Server, the latest version expands the power of virtualization across the enterprise database landscape.
Virtual databases powered by Delphix 3.0 have capabilities that cannot be duplicated on physical infrastructure, the company contends. “The big benefit of our product is we help companies change their data management SLAs,” Jed Yueh, CEO of Delphix, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Delphix 3.0 features self-service provisioning, the ability to refresh multi-terabyte databases in minutes, database rollback and recovery without restoring from backups or tapes, geographically-disparate database synchronization, and simplified database migration across versions and operating systems.
Delphix 3.0 maintains full support for Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases and clusters, providing coverage for two-thirds of the entire application and relational database market. “With this release we have full comprehensive support for Oracle, including Exadata, RAC, all the Unix platforms, Linux, and Oracle 11, 10, and 9,” Yueh explains. The latest version also includes web services APIs so Delphix 3.0 can be integrated into existing management tools like system monitor, runbook automation, and more.
