The call for papers is now open for the first-ever Big Data Boot Camp produced by Database Trends and Applications (DBTA) magazine and www.dbta.com. The event, which will take place May 21-22 at the New York Hilton, will provide the opportunity for speakers to share their knowledge and experience in the emerging big data arena.
A recent study conducted by Unisphere Research, a division of Information Today, Inc., in partnership with MarkLogic, found that many organizations are struggling with big data, which they define as any large-size data store that becomes unmanageable by standard technologies or methods. According to the 2012 survey on managing big and unstructured data, conducted among 264 data managers and professionals who are subscribers to Database Trends and Applications, respondents see an urgent need to tackle big data challenges, and have been marshaling resources within their companies to meet the challenge head-on. In fact, 60% indicated that they are currently evaluating new technologies to address their big data challenges.
DBTA subscribers are keenly interested in many aspects of big data, including issues associated with real-time data integration, big data analytics in general - including data visualization, and comparisons of current technologies like data warehousing and the newer generation of integration and analysis tools.
