Cohesity, a provider of hyperconverged secondary storage, is partnering with VMware to launch a data protection solution for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
The joint VMware and Cohesity solution extends VMware Cloud Foundation with the Cohesity Hyperconverged Secondary Storage platform. The solution delivers simple data protection, instant recovery, and a multi-cloud data fabric to complement VCF.
Solution benefits include enterprise-ready hyperconverged infrastructure that spans primary infrastructure and secondary storage across hybrid clouds; simple data protection for VCF, including both Management and Workload VMs; sub-15 minute recovery of VCF stack on-premises; cost-effective data protection with 50% TCO reduction; disaster recovery to secondary sites; multi-cloud data fabric for cloud archival and replication; and cross-cloud application and data mobility for disaster recovery, test/dev and analytics.
Data center infrastructure owners, such as system administrators, will benefit the most from this partnership, according to said Patrick Rogers, vice president of marketing and product.
“Now they have an all in one stack from VMware that can manage all the layers of the IT infrastructure, compute, network and storage and they can also manage the data protection at the same time,” Rogers said. “It’s really an end-to-end solution now that a single sys admin can deliver to their organization.”
The company will continue to enhance this offering in the future, Rogers explained, with tighter application integrations, updated data recovery, and more.
“It represents a tremendous opportunity for cost reduction because in the past you bought dedicated pieces of hardware for compute but all that is replaced by software,” Rogers said.
