Cloudera, the hybrid data company, is unveiling the expansion of its Open Data Lakehouse offerings, now providing support for Apache Iceberg for CDP-Private Cloud. Currently in tech preview with general availability coming later this summer, Cloudera’s expansion into on-prem environments means it can deliver Iceberg anywhere customer data resides.
The Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) drives secure deployment of enterprise AI, based on its advanced, open data lakehouse that supports AI with data anywhere, operating across multiple public cloud and on-premises locations. CDP transforms large language models (LLMs) and real-time self-service analytics as scalable entities, interwoven with accessibility, governance, and security.
"Large enterprises want to get business value from all their data using AI and data analytics. Our announcement today of Apache Iceberg support on private clouds means our best-in-class Open Data Lakehouse just continues to get better," said Ram Venkatesh, chief technology officer at Cloudera. "Our customers can now gain from Iceberg 'everywhere' they need it to be."
With this Apache Iceberg integration, LLMs can utilize the petabytes of data within Cloudera, empowering more users to do more with data.
"Apache Iceberg is a key technology capable of enabling multi-function and multi-vendor data ecosystems, a big win for enterprises that need to involve all their data to get the most from AI," said Merv Adrian, founder and principal analyst at IT Market Strategy. "Cloudera's 'Iceberg everywhere' accomplishment is a good example of industry leadership toward enabling true cloud data ecosystems."
