Cloudera, provider of Apache Hadoop-based software and services, announced the first big data management solution that allows batch and real-time operations on any type of data within one scalable system. Cloudera Enterprise Real-Time Query (RTQ), powered by Cloudera Impala, improves the economics and performance of large scale enterprise data management, allowing organizations to process data at petabyte scale and interact with that data in real time all on the same system.
Cloudera Impala is a real-time query engine for data stored in HDFS and HBase. Cloudera Enterprise RTQ supplies the management and support capabilities to operate Impala in production environments. “It enables people to do interactive SQL all in one system, with one pool of storage, without having to replicate data,” Charles Zedlewski, Cloudera’s vice president of products, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Impala features a flexible data model and is efficient, with interactive queries expressed in SQL. It can be used by IT and business analysts across a wide range of data types and volumes to interact in real time with data stored in HDFS or HBase.
Cloudera’s latest solution provides greater performance, reduced costs, and real-time interaction with business data. “We get queries on top of Hadoop that run on average ten times faster than what’s previously been possible,” Zedlewski explains. Organizations can save up to 90% on infrastructure costs associated with processing and analyzing big data, and also save by running open source technology on standard hardware. Cloudera Enterprise RTQ provides the real-time interaction with data, improving usability of workloads on Hadoop by slashing return times for queries from minutes in Hive/MapReduce to seconds via Impala.
