CA Technologies announced new releases of its CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS and CA Mainframe Chorus role-based workspace to help customers as they upgrade to the latest release of IBM DB2 for z/OS.
With end-of-support dates set for earlier versions of DB2 for z/OS, CA says, customers need a means to move critical business applications to DB2 10 for z/OS. CA's solutions are designed to automate and streamline the upgrade processes.
“We estimate that 75% of customers haven’t upgraded to DB2 10 for z/OS,” Mark Combs, CA distinguished senior vice president, Mainframe, tells 5 Minute Briefing. “Given the benefits of the new version, and with an end-of-support date set for the previous version, customers need to move critical business applications to DB2 10 for z/OS within the next 18 months. With the new releases of our DB2 management tools and CA Mainframe Chorus, we are helping customers meet this need in an efficient, reliable and cost-effective way to help them achieve accelerated their time-to-value.”
CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS and CA Mainframe Chorus are available now, CA says. The new releases are intended to speed up upgrades to new versions of DB2 for z/OS, as well as automate manual changes and administration processes. CA Mainframe Chorus also provides access to industry expertise through knowledge capture and collaboration capabilities.
CA also says it has enhanced CA Mainframe Chorus for Security and Compliance Management. New features will help enable customers to use the most cost-effective database, improve accuracy when issuing commands and create audit trails of what has been accomplished. Enhancements to CA Mainframe Chorus for Storage Management are designed to increase productivity, improve availability, and better secure storage infrastructures and business information from unauthorized access, the vendor says.
