GoldenGate Software Inc., a provider of high availability and real-time data integration solutions, and Greenplum, a provider of database software for data warehousing and analytics, today announced that GoldenGate supports integration of operational data to a Greenplum data warehouse in real-time for improved business intelligence and reporting.
Business intelligence projects are being pushed higher up on a CIO's priority list due to the increased desire to optimize business operations, particularly in areas such as pricing or profitability analysis, in addition to enabling cross-selling, up-selling, and other customer focused marketing initiatives, the vendors contend. In order to meet these requirements across many industry sectors, organizations are looking for ways to deploy data warehouses and BI systems faster and more cost effectively. Customers with vast amounts of data spread across a number of heterogeneous enterprise applications need a data integration solution that can keep up with the most demanding online transaction processing environments. "Greenplum is one of those databases that has quite a bit of traction out there and we are seeing more and more of our customers either use or evaluate to use Greenplum for their large datasets, large analytics needs," Sami Akbay, vice president, marketing and product management, GoldenGate, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Because of customers requests, Akbay says, GoldenGate started working with Greenplum a few months back and has validated the combined solution.
According to GoldenGate and Greenplum, joint customers will see improved "time to value" on complex data warehouse projects through rapid implementation and integration with operational source systems underpinning critical business applications. By using the GoldenGate Real-Time Data Integration Solution, customers will have a high performance, efficient way to load data from a variety of operational source systems. In addition, by pulling from multiple domains, business users will also have an up-to-date, accurate picture about what is going on in the business.
"Lower latency information-real-time information-is a lot more valuable to the end users and customers than information that they get a day later through batch processes," notes Akbay.
