Embarcadero Technologies Inc., a database tools and developer software company, plans to announce tomorrow Embarcadero All-Access, a software development solution that provides application developers, architects, and database professionals with cost-effective, on-demand access to all the tools they need to design, build, and run software applications and data systems for all of their platforms and programming languages.
"This is the first solution of its kind in the industry and will simplify the ways in which companies do business with their software vendors," Greg Keller, chief evangelist for DatabaseGear products, Embarcadero, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Embarcadero All-Access enables customers to select from one of four All-Access levels providing on-demand access to the entire Embarcadero tool chest which includes up to 18 award-winning development and management products. These tools range from rapid application and web development (Delphi, JBuilder, C++Builder, 3rdRail) and database design and development (ER/Studio, Rapid SQL, DBArtisan), to database management (Change Manager, Performance Center) and more (the rapid application and web development products came from Embarcadero's acquisition of CodeGear from Borland in 2008). The four access levels are Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, with each successive level providing additional products, features, and functionality. The price for each level includes the first year of support, maintenance, all upgrades, and new products as they are introduced.
In addition to announcing All-Access, Embarcadero will also unveil several other new initiatives. Keller tells 5 Minute Briefing that "not only are we announcing the availability of All-Access, but we are also launching a new unified corporate website that will provide a simplified way to understand all of our tools, and we are establishing a new Embarcadero Developer Network that will bring together the entire community of application developers, architects, and database professionals that use any of our tools."
Embarcadero All-Access also introduces InstantOn, a patent-pending technology that will enable companies to establish a new purchasing and relationship model with Embarcadero. The license payments for each level of All-Access effectively establish "membership rights" to all of the tools at that level, and enable unlimited use of them per the licensing terms. With InstantOn, users can easily "click-and-run" every tool in their level on-demand, without installation, either locally or over the network. The InstantOn capability is available today for many All-Access tools and will be available for all components in Q2 2009.
