The Bitfury Group has launched "BE BIG," a global education initiative that will advance the adoption of blockchain as the technology of digital trust.
As the first project of BE BIG ("Bitfury Educational Blockchain Initiative for Good"), Bitfury will lead the translation of the bitcoin whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto into all major languages alongside project partner Coin Center.
In addition, BE BIG aims to foster awareness of blockchain technology in five key areas—governments, communities, schools and educational institutions, healthcare systems, and conservation organizations.
"We founded Bitfury in 2011 after the Satoshi whitepaper convinced me of the power of Bitcoin and blockchain," said Valery Vavilov, CEO of the Bitfury Group. "We want to make sure every person, no matter their country of birth or language, has the same educational opportunities so they can adopt blockchain for the causes they are care about and in the communities they live in."
Bitfury has long been committed to driving awareness of blockchain technology as a tool for global good. Its annual Blockchain Summit, held traditionally on Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island, brings together leaders from the nonprofit, government and technology sectors to catalyze projects that use blockchain technology for socially responsible causes. The company also co-founded the Global Blockchain Business Council, an organization focused on educating governments about blockchain technology; and the Blockchain Trust Accelerator, a New America initiative that seeks to identify and advance pilot projects and research about blockchain and social impact.
