Attunity, Ltd., a provider of real-time data integration and event capture software, and Talend, a provider of open source data integration software, have announced a partnership aimed at jointly selling and marketing their solutions. This new partnership allows both companies to expand their market reach with new solutions created by combining their respective data integration technologies. This partnership-combining the power of Attunity's mainframe connectivity and non-intrusive change-data-capture (CDC) software, and the versatility of Talend's open source data integration solutions-will offer customers increased options for data integration.
Change data capture (CDC) deals with monitoring and transferring only those data items that have been changed on the source systems, removing the need for large bulk-data transfers from one system to another. With data volumes increasing rapidly, change data capture is becoming a key solution for delivering timely information to the end user.
Attunity's non-intrusive, log-based CDC technology is available for data sources ranging from Microsoft's SQL Server, Oracle and DB2/400, to mainframe sources such as Adabas, DB2, VSAM and IMS. When coupled with Talend's leading open source data integration solutions it provides a very compelling solution for applications, such as real-time business intelligence, application and data synchronization, and data-based event capture for modern event-driven architectures.
Talend specializes in data integration products that support the process of moving and combining data from different IT systems. Its flagship product Talend Open Studio, provided as open source under a GPL license, helps users extract data from different sources including databases, files, applications and emails. It further applies transformations such as join, lookup, and de-duplication to data and then sends the resulting data to target systems. Since its inception the company has registered more than 3.3 million lifetime downloads.
5 Minute Briefing Data Integration spoke to Andy Bailey, vice president of marketing at Attunity. Bailey comments that "the change data capture technology is being provided by the Attunity Stream product and provides real-time access to data. Now, Talend users will be able to act on changes quickly for real-time ETL applications. Yves de Montcheuil, vice president of marketing at Talend, adds that "with this combination of products, customers will be able to drive their data integration processes either from the ETL product side according to a pre-defined schedule, or from the CDC product side in a trickle-feed mode every time a data change occurs."
