Attunity, Ltd., a provider of real-time data integration and event capture software, has announced the general availability of Attunity Oracle-CDC for SSIS, delivering change data capture (CDC) technology integrated with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
"We know that Microsoft and Oracle are two very dominant players in the tool and database marketplace," Richard Thomas, director of technical services, Attunity, tells 5 Minute Briefing. In the case of Microsoft's database, "they put a tremendous toolset in there" for business intelligence, reporting and integration services," Thomas notes. "We recognize that there could be great value in being able to go at the world's largest database, Oracle, and use some of the most dominant development and other database toolsets and be able to streamline that whole process and literally have a product that bolts into that environment with little to no requirements of the users," states Thomas.
Building on Attunity's low-impact CDC technology that identifies, captures and delivers only the changes made in enterprise databases, Attunity Oracle-CDC for SSIS offers organizations an efficient solution by processing a fraction of the Oracle data compared to the traditional bulk load approach, thereby reducing costs and enabling real-time integration. By leveraging existing investments in SQL Server and the data integration capabilities available with SSIS, organizations can achieve lower costs compared to other solutions, according to Attunity.
Attunity Oracle-CDC for SSIS is available for both SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008, and offers non-intrusive, log-based Oracle CDC for Oracle 9i, 10g, and 11g; and full integration into SSIS and the Business Intelligence Developer Studio. The release enables generation of SSIS packages for processing Oracle data, reducing development efforts and ensuring best practice implementation; automatic synchronization of full-load and CDC processing; and monitoring and control of CDC processing.
Separately, Attunity also announced a strategic partnership with Syncsort, a provider of high-performance data integration software, to provide efficient real-time data integration. Through this relationship, the companies will promote the use of Syncsort's DMExpress with the log-based, real-time change CDC capabilities of Attunity's Attunity Stream. DMExpress leverages Attunity Stream to capture only the changes made to underlying source systems, eliminating the need to perform costly data refreshes or data snapshot comparisons. The joint solution is available for data sources such as Oracle as well as Microsoft SQL Server and mainframe sources. For more on Syncsort, go here.
