Airbyte Introduces Capacity-Based Pricing for Affordable Data Movement

Airbyte, the leading open source data movement platform company, is announcing that its open data movement technology will offer predictable pricing based on capacity, not data volume—an industry first, according to Airbyte. This initiative will help Airbyte customers meet the needs for AI, data lakes, and real-time analytics through easy and affordable data movement.

Cost unpredictability is a major concern for many organizations in the pursuit of AI technology, especially in larger implementations.

“Volume-based pricing just doesn't work at scale, especially as organizations face a rapidly changing landscape driven by AI, data lakes, and real-time analytics,” said Michel Tricot, CEO and co-founder, Airbyte. “Unlike alternatives, our pricing is simplified, predictable, and aligned with customer value. Customers can scale their data operations with control without hurting their ability to innovate and experiment with new datasets.”

Airbyte’s new pricing model is determined by the customer’s number of connections and data sources, the frequency of data refreshes (whether daily, hourly, or real time), and pipeline scheduling requirements. This pricing applies to both Airbyte Teams and Enterprise products.

“The real value of fresh, accessible data isn’t tied to volume—it’s defined by how that data is used once it reaches your systems,” said Tricot. “Capacity-based pricing scales based on your actual infrastructure needs, rather than the amount of data you move…This makes for predictable and scalable pricing, as customers pay for processing capacity and not for fluctuating data usage.”

Ultimately, Airbyte’s new pricing model “makes for streamlined and straightforward pricing conversations that don’t require complex forecasting and scenario planning, and…will lead to a better experience with Airbyte as teams aren’t worried about the amount of data they move,” Tricot continued.

Airbyte Cloud will not experience the pricing change, maintaining its pay-as-you-go and credit-based pricing to suit smaller organizations with fewer data sources.
