Google has announced a strategic partnership with Poland's Domestic Cloud Provider (DCP). As part of this partnership, DCP, which was founded jointly by PKO Bank Polski and the Polish Development Fund, will become a reseller of Google Cloud services in Poland and will build managed services capabilities around Google Cloud.

Skytap will preview its service on a new class of Microsoft Azure bare metal this year.

Woolpert is launching STREAM:RASTER, a subscription software service that hosts and facilitates access to geospatial imagery in the cloud. Customers can upload raster data to STREAM:RASTER and it creates tile caches of the data that is ready for use in GIS and web mapping software. Customers are then able to manage and control access to their proprietary imagery in STREAM:RASTER, with support and a service level agreement from Woolpert.

Amid a flurry of announcements at its annual OpenWorld conference, Oracle announced the Exadata Database Machine X8M which combines Intel Optane DC persistent memory and 100 gigabit remote direct memory access (RDMA) over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) to remove storage bottlenecks and increase performance for the most demanding workloads such as Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), analytics, IoT, fraud detection, and high frequency trading.

According to a new report from ResearchAndMarkets.com, the global mainframe market size was valued at $2,094.12 million in 2017, and is projected to reach $2,906.61 million by 2025, registering a CAGR of 4.3% from 2018 to 2025. The global mainframe industry was led by the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) industry in 2017 and is projected to maintain its dominance during the forecast period. However, the retail segment is expected to witness the highest growth rate. A study has shown that around 23 of the 25 top U.S. retailers run on mainframe systems, which is further expected to face higher demand in the upcoming years and is considered as a major opportunity for the market.
