Revelation Software Prepares OpenInsight 10.2.2

Last month, Revelation put out the call for participants to take part in OpenInsight 10.2.2 Evaluation.  Unless any major issues are found, this is planned to become the official 10.2.2 release, according to the company.

OpenInsight 10.2.2 is designed primarily as a maintenance update, and as such contains mostly stability and performance enhancements.

Several issues related to OpenInsight index update and search have been resolved or improved.

The OIPI "classic" PDF generation issue has been resolved, and so the default PDF generation process for VSPRINTER1 is now once again available (with an associated improvement in performance).

Single Sign On (SSO) functionality has been improved, with better handling of administrative groups.

RTI_EMAIL_CLIENT (and thus all wrappers around this routine, including RTI_SENDMAIL and RTI_GETMAIL) have been rewritten to use a new mail client based on the indeustry-standard MAILKIT library.

Starting with OpenInsight 10.2.2, the list of users for an application will now be associated with the dbid rather than the appid (as they had been previously), reverting to OI 9 behavior.

For most users, this change will go unnoticed, but for those systems where the dbid and appid of an application are different, a utility routine (RTI_FIX_USERS) has been provided to allow developers/system administrators to change the SYSUSERS entries or update the appinfo (whichever is desired).

Additionally, OpenInsight versions 10.0.8 and above now optionally install an open-source version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

A full release of the update will be available at a later date.
