Revelation Software is planning several road shows for the last quarter of 2009 and is soliciting input from users about where to host the events. Possible cities include: Boston, Mass.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Chicago, Ill.; Houston, Tex.; London, United Kingdom; Nashville, Tenn.; Seattle, Wash.; Sydney, Australia; Tampa, Fla.; Westwood, N.J.; and Vancouver, Canada. Votes for cities can be cast at the Revelation website. City selections will be announced this month.
And, in product news, Revelation will be releasing OpenInsight 9.1 on Sept. 1. It was released in beta as 9.0.1 earlier this year. However, Robert Catalano, director of sales at Revelation, tells DBTA that because so many changes were included in the product, Revelation has decided to rename it 9.1 in recognition of the fact that it is much more than a point release with just bug fixes.
Among new capabilities offered in OpenInsight 9.1 are the ability to send a fax from OpenInsight using the standard Windows Fax Server (included in XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008)-the new function is RTI_SENDFAX; the ability to send an email using SSL-the new function is RTI_CDOMAIL; and the ability to create macros for use with the CTO_CHILD_FORM and CTO_STANDALONE_FORM-ten macros can be defined for each user within an application.
