Registration is now open for U2 University, the largest U2 event of the year, providing U2 training, certification, and networking resources.
U2 University will be held in Denver, Colo., September 16-18; in Liverpool, UK, October 13-15; and in Sydney, Australia, November 17-19.
The conference offers "the technical training that our customers and partners can't get anywhere else," Susie Siegesmund, director, U2 Data Servers & Tools, IBM Information Management, tells DBTA. New this year, in addition to technical sessions covering the latest U2 technology, is the opportunity to participate in hands-on labs.
The labs have been added as a result of request from past attendees. "The truth of the matter is that they want to have the ability to sit down and work with the product, to be taken through step by step actually doing the work rather than seeing examples," she explains.
"The thing to note is that the hands-on labs will obviously have limited seating," points out Siegesmund. Attendees will have the opportunity to register online for the hands on sessions as well as registering for the tutorials. "If they want to get into the lab of their choice they should register early," she advises.
There will be four unique hands-on labs and three of them will repeat to give more people the opportunity to participate. It is expected that each lab session will accommodate 12 participants. The labs will include: Administering and Using Automatic Data Encryption; Boost Your Productivity with the New Basic Developer Toolkit; Easy Recipes for Web Services Developers; and Practical XML.
Additionally, according to Siegesmund, the latest release of U2.NET became generally available on July 31. A key enhancement of the V1.2 release is internationalization with support for NLS; as well as enhancements for improved installation and performance administration.
