Increasing numbers of companies are recognizing the benefits of outsourcing IT services to the cloud, presenting managed service providers (MSPs) with a unique opportunity to grow their client base and revenues. Vissensa is a privately owned company headquartered in Fleet in the United Kingdom that offers technical solutions, including hosted and managed services either on or off-premises as best suits a client’s requirements. Vissensa sought a way to extend its service catalog to meet a more diverse set of client needs, but needed to achieve this without over-complicating management of its infrastructure or increasing operating expenses. The company launched a full spectrum of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings, supported by a hybrid cloud model. The company runs a range of IBM hardware on-site – including the IBM Flex System, Power System S822 and Storwize V7000 – and draws on off-premises SoftLayer infrastructure for additional resources on-demand. The company also became the first MSP to deploy the IBM Enterprise Cloud System, based on an IBM zEnterprise BC12 mainframe running Linux.
