Canonical recently announced the availability of Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS, Ubuntu OpenStack and Juju service orchestration tools on IBM POWER8 systems. What does this mean for Ubuntu users? In a new post, the Canonical team explains that the same qualities users expect of Ubuntu Server and Cloud are now available on POWER8 and the entire archive has been ported to POWER8, so the tools and packages that are familiar are immediately available. In addition, Canonical is working with the Ubuntu ecosystem to bring popular solutions to POWER8, such as Nagios, nginx, and HAProxy.
