Red Hat has announced the latest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. In a new blog post, Adam Jollans, Program Director - Cross-IBM Linux and Open Virtualization Strategy, IBM Systems & Technology Group, highlighted why RHEL 7 is significant for Red Hat, IBM, and most importantly customers. RHEL 7 offers the flexibility of physical, virtual and cloud deployment across the whole range of IBM systems; is based on the Linux 3.10 kernel which includes Linux containers, and other new technologies; and supports the POWER8 processor inside the new Power Systems, as well as the X6 architecture of System x and the latest members of the System z family.
