New TOP500 List Shows Linux Still Rules Supercomputing
The 45th edition of the twice-yearly TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers was recently announced. The new list shows that “Linux is still number one with a bullet when it comes to supercomputing,” writes ZDNet Contributing Editor Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols. “The open-source operating system now runs 486 of the world's fastest computers. Last November, it was running 485 of the top computers. No other operating system is even in the race.”
