Jean Staten Healy, director of Cross-IBM Linux and Open Virtualization, IBM Systems & Technology Group, Systems Software, moderated a panel discussion at Innovation Nation Forum, which was co-located with GOSCON (the Government Open Source Conference) last month in Washington, D.C.
The session, "Unlocking Data Center Consolidation and the Cloud," spotlighted how Linux on the mainframe is enabling a smarter approach to IT infrastructure, and the efficiencies and cost savings that result. Panelists included Joe Clabby, president, Clabby Analytics; Terry Farley, deputy commander, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Defense Enterprise Computing Center (DECC) Mechanicsburg; Jason Kirby, z/VM and z/Linux consultant, Federal Department; and Leonard Santalucia, CTO, business development manager, and certified specialist, Vicom Infinity, Inc.
IBM was a sponsor of Innovation Nation, which focused on the three bellwether topics in federal IT today: cloud, data center consolidation, and cyber security.
Dr. Alan Greenspan, chairman, Federal Reserve System (1987-2006), delivered the event's keynote.
