Docker Changes the Game for Mainframe App Deployment

The opportunities that Docker enables are explored in a new Mainframe Insights blog.  “Docker provides an open platform that enables an easy and efficient user experience for developers to build containers for deploying and transporting Linux applications. The advantage of this portability is an ability to develop and deploy anywhere,” according to Utz Bacher, who leads the architectural work for the Linux on System z development team at the IBM Research & Development Lab in Boeblingen, Germany, and Hartmut Penner, who is a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM working on hybrid cloud concepts for System z.
