openSUSE 11.4 Introduced with First Stable Release of LibreOffice

The openSUSE Project, a worldwide project sponsored by Novell, has announced that openSUSE 11.4 is now available for download. According to the openSUSE Project, the new release is the first major community distribution to ship LibreOffice in its stable release, the first to ship Firefox 4.0 which includes a redesigned user interface and improved performance, and it includes the first Qt4-based release of Scribus, an open source desktop publishing application.

openSUSE 11.4 provides better performance and support for the latest hardware, and adds improvements including the new Broadcom wireless driver which enables many laptops to work out of the box. Additionally, the openSUSE community is introducing the Tumbleweed initiative, a rolling-release repository for openSUSE 11.4. The third-party package provider Packman has also reorganized and optimized its repositories for the openSUSE 11.4 release. The Packman team, which provides new and updated packages for openSUSE, is simultaneously introducing support for Tumbleweed.

The release is available in four versions on x86 and x86-64 platforms. To learn more about this release, visit the openSUSE community.
