For the first time, with the 14.04 release, Ubuntu offers support for IBM POWER8. Ubuntu for POWER8 brings the Ubuntu Server and the OpenStack ecosystem to POWER8 enabling its ease of entry into the scale-out and cloud markets. POWER8 is especially optimized for mobile, social, cloud, big data and analytics workloads, and Ubuntu and tooling such as Juju make managing and deploying those workloads easier.
