Winners' Circle by Dinesh Chandrasekhar, Head of Product Marketing, Data-in-Motion
The challenge of addressing data silos is an age-old integration problem. However, in the last decade, the exponential growth of streaming data across enterprises has given a new meaning to “data silos.” Initiatives around the comprehensiveness of data, whether it be Customer 360 or Product 360, are no longer just about integrating several disparate enterprise data sources. It is also about combining and enriching real-time data streams from various sources such as social media, log files, clickstream data, retail terminals, and more.
Beyond Volume, Velocity, and Variety, the other two important challenges that need to be addressed with Data-in-Motion (or streaming data) are security and governance. Data needs to be protected and governed right from the edge where it is captured to the point where it is analyzed in the cloud or in the data center.
IoT and edge use cases have led to an increase in the adoption of the cloud for more compute power and storage needs. Data-in-Motion requires a data lifecycle of its own where such data is not only collected, processed, and analyzed in real-time but is also treated with the utmost security and governance across hybrid and multi-cloud architectures.
Cloudera Dataflow (CDF) is a scalable, real-time streaming data platform that ingests, curates, and analyzes data for key insights and immediate actionable intelligence. With its ability to be deployed under various form factors, CDF truly enables sophisticated Data-in-Motion use cases for hundreds of our customers across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud architectures.
